About

Hi, I'm David.

I'm a freelance writer from Ussa, a small town in Taraba State, Nigeria. I started DavidWrites to document something most online business blogs are afraid to show: what building an online income actually looks like from the beginning the confusion, the mistakes, the zero-client weeks, and the slow, honest progress.

I'm not writing from the other side of success. I'm writing from inside the journey.

What is DavidWrites?

DavidWrites is a Nigerian freelance and blogging resource built on one principle: honesty first.

Every post on this blog comes from real experience things I've personally done, tested, struggled with, or figured out as a beginner freelancer in Nigeria. No recycled generic advice. No fake income screenshots. Just honest documentation of what works, what doesn't, and what I wish someone had told me before I started.

What you'll find here:

✅ Fiverr guides for Nigerian beginners : setup, verification errors, payment methods

✅ Payment platform reviews : Raenest, Cleva, Payoneer — tested and honest

✅ AI tools for African freelancers : free tools that actually work in Nigeria

✅ Freelancing from zero : skills, clients, pricing, platforms

✅ Honest milestone updates : real numbers, real lessons, no sugarcoating

Who this blog is for:

DavidWrites is written specifically for:

Nigerian and African beginners who want to start freelancing but don't know where to begin
People who've tried to start and failed because the guides they found weren't written for their reality
Anyone building an online income from a small town, limited data, a phone and zero budget

If that's you you're in the right place.

A little about me:

I write social media content and captions as my Fiverr service. I use Claude AI, ChatGPT, Canva, and Grammarly as my daily tools. I run this blog entirely from an Android phone in Ussa, Taraba State.

I started this blog having failed to start multiple times before I never knew where to begin, so I quit before I started. This time I'm writing from real experience, and I'm not stopping.

Why Your Fiverr Gig Gets Zero Impressions : And How to Fix It in Nigeria

This post contains affiliate links. If you sign up through my links I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I personally use and trust. A Fiverr gig gets zero impressions for six main reasons: weak or wrong keywords in the title and tags, a gig URL that was broken when the title was changed after publishing, extended account inactivity that signals to the algorithm that the gig is not performing, a low Success Score that reduces visibility, a thumbnail that loses the click before the algorithm can help, and a broad generic niche where your gig competes against thousands of established sellers with hundreds of reviews. The fix starts with keywords specifically replacing broad keywords with long-tail phrases that match exactly what buyers search for in your specific service category. I am Matthew David a Nigerian freelance content writer from Ussa, Taraba State. I have been building my Fiverr profile since April 2026, managing everything f...

How to Spot Fake Remote Jobs in Nigeria 2026

This post contains affiliate links. If you sign up through my links I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I personally use and trust. A fake remote job in Nigeria always shows at least one of these warning signs: the recruiter contacts you on WhatsApp or Telegram with a job you never applied for, the offer promises unrealistically high income for simple tasks (such as ₦500,000 weekly for data entry), you are asked to pay any amount before starting work, all communication happens through personal Gmail or Yahoo addresses rather than corporate email, or the company cannot be verified on LinkedIn, Google, or the Corporate Affairs Commission registry. Any single one of these signs is enough reason to stop the process and verify independently before responding further. I have received unsolicited WhatsApp messages offering "remote jobs" with suspicious patterns multiple times since I started building my online income in 2026. The so...

Best Remote Job Websites for Nigerians in 2026

This post contains affiliate links. If you sign up through my links I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I personally use and trust. One dollar equals roughly ₦1,300 at current exchange rates. A Nigerian professional earning $800 per month from a foreign remote job takes home what most full-time Lagos office workers can't match working twice the hours. That's the honest arithmetic driving the surge in Nigerians searching for remote work in 2026. The good news is that this is no longer a distant dream. Nigerians are working remotely right now for companies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Europe as writers, designers, virtual assistants, developers, customer support agents, and marketers all from Nigerian addresses, all paid in dollars. The challenge is knowing which platforms are real, which ones accept Nigerian applicants, and how to actually get hired on each one. I'm Matthew David a freelance c...

Best Freelance Niches for Nigerians in 2026: Which Skills Pay Most

This post contains affiliate links. If you sign up through my links I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I personally use and trust. The best freelance niches for Nigerians in 2026 are AI-assisted content writing, social media management, graphic design with Canva, copywriting, video editing, virtual assistance, and web development. The highest paying niches are software development and email copywriting. The most beginner-accessible niches are content writing, social media caption writing, virtual assistance, and Canva graphic design all of which can be started from a phone with zero prior experience. Choosing the wrong freelance niche wastes months. Choosing the right one the one that matches your actual skills, your learning capacity, and the real market demand from international clients is the difference between earning your first dollar in two weeks and spending six months with zero income to show for your effort. I am Matthew ...
